About the role
Catholic Social Services is currently seeking two dynamic and engaging Employment Workshop Facilitators who are passionate about adult learning and workforce development to join our Workforce Development team. These positions will support the delivery of two new employment training programs: Ready to Serve (RTS) and Renewing Expertise, Navigating Upward (RENU). This is an 18-month, full-time contract position, ending on December 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension. Job application closing date: July 10, 2026. The ideal candidate is a skilled trainer and facilitator who enjoys working with diverse groups of learners and can create interactive and engaging classroom learning experiences, while motivating participants to achieve their employment goals. The Employment Workshop Facilitator is responsible for delivering employment readiness and workplace skills training to program participants in a classroom setting. Working closely with members of the employment team, the Facilitator also assesses participants’ progress, supports workplace readiness, and fosters an inclusive learning environment that encourages participants’ success. Program Overview: Ready to Serve (RTS) A 16‑week program prepares participants for employment in the food and service industries through employment readiness workshops, paid work‑based learning, and follow‑up support. RENU Program A 16‑week program supports internationally trained professionals in Business Administration, IT, and Human Services through group learning, individualized coaching, and work‑based learning. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of training curriculum, lesson plans and program materials. Support participants in obtaining required industry certification (i.e., Alberta Food Safety Certification and ProServe Certificate, and others). Facilitate in-person and in some cases, virtual, learning sessions to prepare participants for their Work-Based Learning/Practicum experience. Plan and deliver workshops covering topics such as Intercultural and Multicultural Communication in Canada and Career Development and Planning. Facilitate group reflection sessions to support participants’ continuous learning and confidence building. Create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment. Adapt instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and educational backgrounds. Foster participant engagement through interactive activities, discussions, role-playing, and experiential learning techniques. Work with Career Counsellors to assist clients with resume development and other job search tools to support employment readiness. Support participants in building confidence, communication skills, and workplace professionalism. Conduct participant assessments and identify learning needs and provide one-on-one coaching as needed. Monitor participant attendance, participation and progress, and provide constructive feedback to support participant growth. Conduct mock interviews and support participants in transitioning successfully into workplace learning experiences. Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records in company’s CRM and in COMPASS; ensuring timely completion of participant evaluation report. Work closely with the Team Lead and program staff to achieve program targets and outcomes and prepare and submit summary reports to the program’s Team Lead. Assist with program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. What This Job Requires: Diploma or degree in Social Work, Adult Education, Psychology, Career Development, or related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in facilitating workshops, training or adult learning programs in non-profit organizations. Experience serving diverse, multicultural, and underrepresented populations in workforce development and employment services. Experience facilitating employment readiness, career development or workforce development workshops. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information with professionalism and discretion. Experience facilitating both in-person and virtual learning environments. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, Intervention Record Check and/ or summary of driving record are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate. Skills & Competencies Strong classroom facilitation and presentation skills. Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional techniques. Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds in a culturally responsive manner. Ability to simplify complex information and make learning practical and relevant. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in managing group dynamics and fostering participation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice. Working Conditions: Primarily classroom-based. Requires standing and moving about the classroom for extended periods while facilitating training sessions. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support participant engagement activities and events.
