Data Engineering Specialist Montreal, QC (hybrid) Contract
Skills Matrix - Top 3 Must Have Skills: • At least 6 years of experience in data engineering with strong hands-on coding in Python, Spark, SQL, and related scripting languages. • Experience using Visual Studio Code and Git in modern development workflows. • Required hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, OneLake, pipelines, notebooks, and medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers. • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms. • Experience with Terraform. • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB.
Skills Matrix - Top 3 Nice to Have Skills • Experience with workflow and orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory and Airflow. • Experience with DevOps and Github and infrastructure deployment tools such as ARM. • Experience with Microsoft cloud and data platforms such as Fabric, Azure, Databricks, and Purview. • Experience with stream-processing technologies such as Spark Streaming. • Familiarity with Kubernetes. • Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and data visualization.
Modern Data Engineering & Platform Architecture
Strong hands-on experience building scalable data pipelines and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Spark, SQL, Python, and medallion architecture.
Engineering Excellence & DevOps Practices
Ability to write reliable code, use Git/VS Code, apply DevOps practices, automate processes, and maintain high-quality, secure, and governed data solutions.
