Job Summary: As a Data Scientist Intern you will: Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and insights Contribute to one of the following: (a) building, training, and evaluating machine learning models, which may include tree-based models, deep learning, time series forecasting, or optimization/operations research techniques; or (b) developing basic AI agent workflows Collaborate with cross-functional teams (between business and technology) to translate data insights into actionable recommendations Develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders Document methodologies and present findings to the team Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related field Proficiency in Python (experience with pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.) Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data querying Solid understanding of statistics (hypothesis testing, regression analysis, probability) Strong conceptual understanding of machine learning model principles and hands-on experience building models General understanding of AI agent principles Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences Nice to Have: Exposure to one or more of the following is a plus: tree-based models, deep learning, time series forecasting, optimization/operations research Hands-on experience building or experimenting with AI agent workflows or frameworks Hands-on experience with optimization solvers/libraries (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, OR-Tools) Prior experience with machine learning projects (coursework, research, Kaggle competitions, etc.) Familiarity with development tools such as VS Code (or similar IDEs), and GitHub Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib/Seaborn) Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) The successful student will be currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college throughout the period of the Internship/Co-op program. In addition, you must be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid study/work permit.
