Position Overview

As a Settlement Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding newcomers through their settlement journey, offering crucial information, orientation, and personalized referrals. By fostering community connections, promoting cultural understanding, and advocating for their well-being, you’ll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Program Manager, the selected candidate will support newcomers by providing vital information on Canadian society, culture, and systems, helping clients navigate services like healthcare, education, and employment. The role also includes advocating for newcomers' well-being, facilitating community integration through group activities, and promoting inclusivity. The Settlement Worker will collaborate with service providers, ensure accessibility through in-person and virtual services, and proactively address barriers. They will maintain accurate client records, adhere to privacy policies, and apply GBA+ principles to ensure equitable and inclusive service delivery.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field, with at least one year of experience working with newcomers, and experience supporting vulnerable populations in multicultural environments. They will possess strong skills in conducting assessments, navigating settlement resources, advocating for client rights, and fostering community connections. A commitment to cultural diversity, ethical service delivery, and promoting self-sufficiency is essential. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, be proficient in technology and database management, and have knowledge of GBA+ principles and data privacy protection laws.
This role involves working with Arabic-speaking clients, so proficiency in Arabic is a requirement.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
