Department: Student Wellness ServicesThis position is represented by the agreement between the Professional Staff Association and the University of Guelph   If you are a current employee of the University of Guelph you must apply on the internal Career Page in order to be considered as an internal applicant.  Career Opportunities (sapsf.com)    Continuing Limited Term, 10 Months, Off June and July.   General Purpose Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services, the Occupational Therapist (OT) is a key member of the interdisciplinary teams within Health and Counselling Services and the Complex Care Team. This team supports students with complex mental health concerns, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, ASD), and co-occurring medical needs that impact daily functioning and academic participation.   Within Student Wellness Services, care is delivered through a shared-care model that emphasizes collaborative case planning and clearly defined roles. The OT applies a functional, occupation-focused lens to assessment and intervention, supporting students to build capacity in areas such as executive functioning, daily living skills, and academic engagement. This role contributes to student success and well-being through both direct service and consultation.   Duties and Responsibilities The OT assesses and enhances students’ functional capacity across academic, personal, and daily living domains. Through assessment and individualized care planning, the OT translates therapeutic goals into practical strategies that support participation in university life.   The role includes a defined caseload and a combination of direct clinical service (assessment, intervention, skill-building) and consultative support to interdisciplinary team members. The OT completes both formal and informal functional assessments to inform treatment planning, coordinated care, and academic accommodation processes.   Requirements

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a mental health setting. Demonstrated experience in functional assessment and intervention planning. Experience supporting individuals with mental health concerns, neurodiversity, and complex care needs. Strong client-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice. Commitment to anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and equity-informed care. Knowledge of university systems, accessibility processes, and community resources (postsecondary experience an asset). Understanding of relevant legislation (PHIPA, Mental Health Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA). Knowledge of the social determinants of health and the student experience. Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary, shared-care models. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
