About the role

Component Engineer Location: Mississauga, ON Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite presence required – Remote candidates will not be considered) Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day) Employment Type: Contract About the Role We are seeking a Component Engineer to support the selection, evaluation, and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical components used in product development. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with experience analyzing components, reviewing technical specifications, and working closely with suppliers to ensure product quality and compliance. Working alongside senior engineering professionals, you will contribute to component selection, supplier evaluation, and design support activities while gaining exposure to product development processes and engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities • Document the selection of components and subassemblies to meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. • Review component specifications, design plans, and engineering tolerances. • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define component requirements and support design modifications. • Analyze components and subassemblies under the guidance of Senior Component Engineers. • Assist in evaluating suppliers to ensure component quality, availability, and long-term viability. • Support engineering teams in identifying optimal component solutions for product designs. • Follow established engineering practices, standards, and procedures. • Provide recommendations regarding suppliers, methods, and technical solutions to management. Qualifications Education • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience • 2–5 years of experience in an engineering environment. • Experience working with electrical and electro-mechanical components. Required Skills • Strong understanding of electrical and electro-mechanical engineering principles. • Knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical components and subassemblies. • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances. • Understanding of sustainable design practices. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and compliance.
