The Burnaby School District is on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations of Musqueam, Tsleil- Waututh and Squamish.

Burnaby School District is seeking a Qualified Numeracy Support Teacher**.
The District Numeracy Support Teacher will function as a part of the Instructional Services Team that supports numeracy instruction across elementary schools with a focus on K-12 and an emphasis on intermediate (Grades 4–7).
Reporting to the designated Director of Instruction, the District Numeracy Support Teacher will be involved in providing a range of numeracy supports to students and teachers in their assigned schools.
The District Numeracy Support Teacher will also support targeted, personalized instruction and collaborate closely with school-based teams to implement comprehensive numeracy support strategies.
This position requires travel between schools.
**The successful candidate will: **
- Provide targeted, personalized instruction and numeracy intervention for identified students in 1-to-1 and small group settings using evidence-based practices, instructional data, and professional knowledge;
- Meet regularly with classroom teachers and learning support teachers to collaboratively plan classroom numeracy instruction that correlates with the needs of students;
- Through collaboration and co-facilitation, support classroom teachers and school teams to identify needs of students, set learning targets, and enhance best practices to ensure the continued academic growth of students with a primary focus in the area of numeracy;
- Meet regularly with classroom teachers to plan numeracy instruction that correlates with the needs of students;
- Support the collection of assessment data and build understanding about how to utilize this data to plan for numeracy instruction;
- Promote a common vision for numeracy instruction within the District;
- Work independently and as part of a team to create strategic goals, build and implement work plans, and create mechanisms to ensure plans are enhancing student learning;
- Support Instructional Services with other duties and initiatives as required.
**Required Qualifications: **
- Bachelor of Education degree with a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level;
- Master’s degree would be an asset;
- Background in numeracy instruction, mathematics pedagogy, or numeracy intervention would be an asset;
- Diverse teaching experience within elementary that reflects a commitment to innovative instruction and assessment practices;
- Experience leading professional learning for colleagues;
- Demonstrated ability in evidence-based decision making in the classroom to support student success in the area of numeracy;
- Commitment to systemic change based on an understanding of evolving trends in education as it pertains to improving student success in relation to numeracy instruction;
- Demonstrated leadership, flexibility, perseverance, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth in the area of numeracy;
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the demonstrated ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators;
- Ability to work effectively and independently with general direction.
