About the role

Software Engineer Location: Remote (U.S. / Canada / Europe) Engagement Type: Contractor Compensation: Up to $75/hour Commitment: 10–15 hours per week About the Opportunity This opportunity is for experienced Software Engineers interested in contributing to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. The role involves solving real-world software engineering challenges, reviewing and improving production-quality code, and applying engineering expertise to help improve the capabilities of next-generation AI systems. No prior AI experience is required. Strong software engineering fundamentals, technical reasoning, and problem-solving skills are the primary qualifications for success in this role. A background in Cybersecurity or Security Operations (SecOps) is highly preferred. Responsibilities Work on complex software engineering challenges across backend, full-stack, systems, and infrastructure domains. Review, debug, optimize, and explain production-quality code across multiple programming languages and frameworks. Design and evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, distributed services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows. Assess engineering tradeoffs related to scalability, maintainability, reliability, performance, security, and developer experience. Clearly communicate technical decisions, implementation approaches, and alternative solutions. Collaborate on technical reviews, architecture discussions, and software engineering best practices. Quickly adapt to new codebases, technologies, and engineering requirements. Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience in at least one backend or full-stack engineering environment, including Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C#, C++, Go (Golang), or Ruby. Experience building, maintaining, or reviewing production-grade applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations. Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including debugging, testing, code quality, system design, and architectural tradeoffs. Ability to analyze unfamiliar codebases and communicate technical reasoning clearly. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containers, monitoring, and production operations. Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, or React Native. Open-source contributions, public GitHub projects, technical writing, or other notable engineering work. Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, or making architecture decisions. Background in Cybersecurity or Security Operations (SecOps). Compensation Competitive compensation of up to $75/hour. Weekly payments. Independent contractor engagement.
