Location: Kootenay Discovery School (located within the Fernie Learning Campus), Fernie, BC

Contract Type: Part-time Temporary (0.857 FTE)

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $60,326 to $101,650, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

Job Summary:

Online Middle School Teacher - Grades 7-9 and Humanities Teacher - Grades 10-12

0.857 FTE temporary contract, starting September 8, 2026 or upon completion of
the posting process, ending June 25, 2027.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience in Humanities at
the Secondary level. Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching
experience in Asynchronous Online Learning.

_This is a multi-grade, multi-subject posting that includes facilitating all
middle school (grade 7-9) humanities, careers, and ADST online courses, as
well as a few Grade 10-12 Humanities courses, and our BAA Essentials to Online
Learning 10 course. The diverse portfolio of this role requires a candidate
who has demonstrated proficiency in online teaching as well as at the middle
school level, specifically in the Humanities. Candidate must also be fluent in
Microsoft 365 and Learning Management Systems (Brightspace). Our middle
schoolers connect digitally from across the district, so experience with video
conferencing platforms, digital organization tools, and online assessment
methods is also essential. _

This position will have a home base of Kootenay Discovery School in the
community of Fernie. This is a distance learning school. The schedule for this
position is flexible and still to be determined. Please note that all work
will be on-site.
