SUPERVISOR, FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS In-Scope, Full-Time 12-Month Term Position Competition #: MCFCS-SFSP-2026.011 Hours of Work: 7.25 hours per day Classification and Salary: SP5 $40.54 to $56.42 hourly Location: Winnipeg MB The Supervisor of Family Support Programs provides leadership and guidance to departmental staff ensuring the delivery of quality services to care-givers and families within MCFCS. The Supervisor of Family Support Programs’ primary responsibilities are to maintain and improve service delivery, manage unit workload distribution and scheduling, and implement all administrative, service and personnel policy and procedures within the unit. This includes developing, implementing and procedures and standards of practice, monitoring budgets, providing technical advice and supervision to staff. It is the responsibility of every position to provide, where requested culturally relevant service or assist with access to such service. Education and Experience BSW plus five years of direct child welfare experience Post-secondary degree in social services, Youth and Child Care Development, or Applied Counseling plus seven years of direct child welfare experience Other degrees and experience may be considered RSW is an asset Current non-violent crisis intervention, ASIST, First Aid and CPR be an asset. 3+ years’ experience in working with youth and young adults in a social service capacity in a cultural aspect. Proven experience in developing strategic plans, operational plans and proposals. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated understanding of Métis culture.
Demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory experience.
Human relations skills, including empathy, sensitivity, understanding of human and organizational behavior, motivational techniques and counseling and mediation skills for such purposes as influencing, persuading, motivating, or negotiating with others, and in dealing with highly sensitive issues.
Excellent communication skills including oral presentation skills, writing skills, listening and observation skills
Knowledge in Circle of Security and Family Service and Kinship care agreements.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team, with other community and related service organizations to achieve Agency goals and objectives
Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information Prior to commencing employment, the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver’s Abstract upon hire at their own expense. A valid Manitoba driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel within and outside the city are required.
