Hiring: Backend Java/Spring Boot Developer | Enterprise Banking Environment

Role Overview: We are seeking a driven, high-performing Backend Developer to join a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. This role is focused on the design and implementation of high-volume, high-availability applications using Java and Spring Boot. You will act as a key technical resource, working closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable code.

Logistics and compensation: Team/Business Unit: Digitization Team Backend: Java 11+, Spring Boot, MongoDB Job Type: Contract: 3 months to start, until end of fiscal October 30th, will extend! Target Start Date: ASAP Work Location: Remote+ Hybrid- Toronto, ON (4 days in Office per month) Compensation: T4: 42$-$52/hr | IC: $56-$60/hr

Key Responsibilities: Solution Design: Develop and maintain backend solutions, ensuring full adherence to security, logging, error handling, and performance standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with infrastructure, operations, and vendor leads to define requirements, timelines, and technical design specs. Strategic Impact: Assess design decisions regarding performance, budget, and downstream system impact. Recommend creative optimizations where necessary. Stakeholder Interaction: Act as a technical bridge, communicating requirements effectively to both technical and non-technical business partners. Agile Mindset: Contribute to a continuous improvement culture, staying ahead of industry trends to inform architectural decisions.

Technical Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Core Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development. Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in Spring Boot, APIs, and Microservices architecture. Strong knowledge of MongoDB, JSON, and XML. Proven ability to design for high volume and high availability. AWS: Experience with AWS is considered a strong plus.
