Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Canadian French (Québécois French) Transcriber. The transcriber will listen to audio and video recordings in Québécois French and accurately convert them into written text following project-specific guidelines. Daily tasks include segmenting and timestamping content, applying correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar, and tagging non-speech events or speaker changes as required. The role may also involve basic quality checks, adherence to style guides, and collaboration with project managers or reviewers to implement feedback. Work volume and schedule are project-based, offering flexibility while requiring consistent availability and timely delivery. Qualifications Strong native or near-native proficiency in Canadian French (Québécois), with excellent command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. High level of listening accuracy, including understanding of regional accents, colloquialisms, and informal speech in Québécois French. Proficiency in transcription tools or platforms, with the ability to follow formatting rules, style guides, and timestamping conventions. Strong attention to detail, focus, and consistency when reviewing and correcting transcripts for errors and omissions. Reliable internet connection, a computer with up-to-date software, and quality headphones suitable for long listening sessions. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively in a fully remote, contract-based environment. Familiarity with English for reading guidelines and communicating with the project team is preferred. Previous experience in transcription, linguistics, localization, or related language services is an asset. Commitment to data privacy, confidentiality, and secure handling of client materials.
