Senior Mainframe Modernization Consultant
About the role
Position Description
CGI is seeking a Senior Mainframe Infrastructure Modernization Consultant to support a large scale enterprise initiative involving the migration and modernization of critical mainframe infrastructure software across monitoring, automation, workload scheduling, database management, IMS, storage management, and performance optimization.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for software implementation, migration planning, configuration, testing, deployment, and operational transition within a mission critical z/OS environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Lead the migration and modernization of enterprise mainframe infrastructure software. Assess existing product implementations and develop migration strategies and implementation plans. Install, configure, customize, and integrate enterprise mainframe software solutions. Execute migration activities, including proof of concepts, testing, validation, and production deployments. Ensure functional equivalency between existing and replacement solutions while minimizing operational risk. Collaborate with client infrastructure teams, technical specialists, project managers, architects, and operational support teams. Develop migration runbooks, implementation procedures, rollback plans, and technical documentation. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and product integration issues. Support post migration stabilization, optimization, and knowledge transfer. Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical decision making.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
8+ years of z/OS infrastructure experience. Hands-on experience implementing, administering, upgrading, or migrating enterprise mainframe infrastructure software.
Strong experience in one or more of the following:
Workload automation and job scheduling Systems monitoring, event management, and performance management Db2 administration, utilities, recovery, and performance tuning IMS administration and database utilities CICS performance analysis Storage and allocation management Data compression technologies Capacity planning and performance optimization Enterprise systems and operations management Experience with enterprise modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives involving multiple mainframe infrastructure products. Proficiency with software installation, customization, maintenance, and migration using SMP/E. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently in complex enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading infrastructure modernization or software migration programs. Mainframe certifications from recognized enterprise software vendors. Experience working with software vendors, technical specialists, and professional services teams. Experience in telecommunications or other large-scale enterprise environments. Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55.29/hour - $79.33/hour. This Role is an existing vacancy.
