RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position Summary

Department / Research Program: Access ALS

Access ALS, led by internationally recognized clinician-researcher Dr. Angela Genge at McGill University, is Canada’s first national clinical trial network dedicated to phase 1 trials in ALS. This patient-focused initiative establishes a coordinated, Phase 1–ready infrastructure across 13 sites in eight provinces, designed to accelerate early-phase trials, standardize operations, and improve patient access. By partnering with the Canadian ALS (CALS) Clinic Network and leveraging Health Canada’s regulatory flexibility, Access ALS positions Canada as a global leader in ALS drug development.

With Dr. Genge’s decades experience in early phase clinical trial leadership and in partnership with the CIM’s Phase 1 unit—this initiative will close critical gaps in site capabilities, optimize recruitment, and attract high-value industry-sponsored trials across the country. The coordinating center for ACCESS ALS will reside at McGill University Health Center Research Institute under the leadership of Dr Angela Genge. The center oversees and supports ALS clinical trial sites at clinical academic institutions across Canada interested in building out significant phase 1 capabilities. Internally the center collaborates closely with the Center for Innovative Medicine (CIM) Phase 1 unit. Reporting directly to Dr Genge and following established institutional policies and governmental guidelines and regulations, the incumbent is responsible for implementing the network components of Access ALS and building relationships across the CALS network of sites, the site level partners of Access ALS across Canada. The role is for a Network Coordinator to support the sites both at the ALS Phase 1 group of the CIM of the MUHC RI and the ACCESS ALS clinical trial sites across the country. Cooperation with the Capture ALS, CALS, and others are a key component of the network aspects of the position.

General Duties

Support administrative and coordination tasks related to the Access national program, Facilitate communication and collaboration between CALS sites and the coordinating center, Organize and coordinate meetings, ensuring they are scheduled in a timely manner to support development of sites including mentoring programs, Under the Direction of the operations manager Monitor and track development of phase 1 capabilities at each site, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met, Keep an up-to-date record of registrations, trainings, and updates related to ALS phase 1 sites and central staff trainings (GCP, Health Canada Division 5, SOPs). Responsible for contributing to the alignment of operational processes and documentation across regions, Contribute to the formalization of best practices across sites, supporting consistency in processes and documentation, Support the implementation and adoption of standardized approaches and tools across regions, Play a key role in the dissemination of best practices to ensure alignment across sites. Under the direction of the PI and Operations Manager Contribute to the development and refinement of tools, templates, and systems for cross-regional coordination, Prepare progress summaries, reports, and updates for the executive committee, Participate in regular coordination meetings and ensure effective follow-up on action items with the regions.

Standards Of Performance

Demonstrate ability to work with regional sites to ensure solid intersite communication, Demonstrate strong problem solving skills in the execution of tasks.

Education / Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Field of Study: Science

Other education considered an asset for this position: Masters

Work Experience: Experience as a clinical trial coordinator involved in a Phase 1 trial (minimum of 3 years). Demonstrate ability to write scientific publications (an asset).

Required Skills

Knowledge of French is required. An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with patients, researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project. High level of competency in IT , Excel, Microsoft Office 365, CTMS, Strong communication skills.

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Work Site: Glen Site, 1001 Decarie Blvd.
