About the role

ACADEMIC PROGRAM OFFICER (BAND LEVEL 9) Department of Psychology (Contractual Position to July 20, 2027)

DUTIES The Academic Program Officer will work under the direction of the department head to provide academic program support for the department's undergraduate program. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the department head with the selection and scheduling of undergraduate courses; providing academic advice to the department's undergraduate students on subjects including major and minor admissions; processing of various forms related to registration, prerequisite waivers, and administering change of grade forms; participating as a member of the Psychology Undergraduate Studies Committee and the Faculty of Science Undergraduate Studies Committee; preparing formal calendar change documents and responding to intra-university consultations on calendar changes; participating in departmental tours, mini enrichment courses and other outreach activities; assisting with class audits (undergraduate and graduate); and performing other related duties as required. The position may be required to assist other departments within the Faculty of Science as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS Experience (3-5 years) advising in an academic environment; completion of a Master’s degree in Psychology; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. A demonstrated understanding of post-secondary undergraduate programs and regulations is essential; as are excellent writing, verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Experience teaching university-level psychology (or related) courses would be considered an asset.
