About the role

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.

We are currently seeking a Refiner to support our Atlantic Operation. This role is a full time, max-term position, reporting to the Senior Metallurgist and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity

Apply all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards to all maintenance activities Identify safety issues and encourage a site safe work culture with safety being top priority Ensuring gold production targets are met or exceeded by overseeing operation of the gold room including, but not limited to, electrowinning, cell washing, filtering, drying and smelting. Leading support for gold room operations. Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all related activities. Organizing and plan end of month and end of quarter operation to meet production targets. Complying and enforcing strict gold room security protocols with regards to ingress, egress and material handling. Working closely with security to coordinate gold room activities such as maintenance services and visitors. Managing inventories of reagents, tools and equipment within the Gold Room to minimize process delays and interruptions. Perform other duties as assigned

Our Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate The Following

Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license. Relevant post-secondary schooling from a recognized training institution (graduate certificate/diploma or degree). Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting. Able to use a computer effectively – automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office. Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen mill shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources. Collaborate effectively with colleagues within a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, and demanding environment. Diligent in product tracking from electrowinning harvest to shipment Must be physically fit and capable of repeated lifts of up to 25kg Ability to think critically about problems and to select the right tool to complete the diagnostic.
