Contract Service Agent – ONTC Bus Depot (Kenora, ON) Location: Kenora, Ontario (On-site) Worksite: ONTC Bus Depot, 1329 Hwy 17E, Kenora, ON P9N 1M1 Company: Upstaff Employment Services Inc. We are currently seeking a dependable, customer-focused Contract Service Agent to manage the daily operations of the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) Bus Depot in Kenora. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys interacting with the public, takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service, and can confidently manage day-to-day depot operations independently.

Position Overview As the Contract Service Agent, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers travelling through the ONTC depot. You will be responsible for ticket sales, parcel and baggage processing, customer assistance, cash handling, and maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the depot. This is an independent role requiring professionalism, accountability, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities Sell ONTC bus and train tickets using the computerized ticketing system while ensuring all fares comply with approved tariff rates. Process customer payments through cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately. Perform daily cash balancing and reconciliation procedures. Receive, log, weigh, store, and release baggage and BPX freight parcels while maintaining proper chain-of-custody documentation. Prepare shipping documentation, scan barcodes, and obtain electronic customer signatures. Provide passengers with schedules, route information, fare details, and general travel assistance. Respond professionally to inquiries received in person, by telephone, and via email. Resolve customer concerns in accordance with ONTC customer service standards. Open and close the depot according to operational procedures. Conduct daily health and safety inspections of the facility. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming ticket counter, waiting area, and parcel room. Perform light outdoor maintenance, including clearing walkways of snow and ice during winter months. Follow all company, client, and health & safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications Previous experience in customer service, retail, transportation, hospitality, logistics, or a similar customer-facing environment. Experience handling cash transactions and balancing daily receipts is considered an asset. Comfortable working with Windows-based computer systems and point-of-sale software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing exceptional customer service. Ability to safely lift and carry parcels weighing up to 75 lbs (34 kg).

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the Kenora area and surrounding communities. Previous experience in transportation, freight, parcel, or ticketing operations. Experience serving diverse communities, including Indigenous communities. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Requirements Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the ONTC Bus Depot in Kenora. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Successful completion of ONTC operational systems and safety training before commencing employment. Ability to consistently work the scheduled operating hours and provide reliable attendance.
