About

Hope lives here. Hopewell began in 1983 when John and Joanne Oosterhuis opened their hearts and home to children with disabilities in their community. To support families who needed additional care for their children, the Oosterhuis family purchased a farmhouse in Ariss, Ontario, and became foster parents to four children. As word spread about the individualized care and support provided by the Oosterhuis family, referrals continued to grow, and Hopewell gradually evolved into the organization it is today. Today, Hopewell provides respite, residential, and recreational supports across eight locations, serving individuals and families in our community. Guided by our vision of working closely with people, families, and communities to create inclusive opportunities for a fulfilling life, we remain committed to our mission: a full life together for a lifetime. Our unique culture continues to shape the supportive environments where people feel valued, connected, and empowered to thrive.
