ABOUT THE ROLE The Youth Intern - Housing supports the Housing Department by assisting with the construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of residential buildings and community facilities. This position provides hands-on learning opportunities for youth interested in skilled trades while developing workplace skills, safety awareness, teamwork, and responsibility. The intern works under the guidance of experienced carpenters and supervisors to complete projects that contribute to safe, quality housing within the community. This position is a 1 year contract. KEY RESPONSIBITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist staff with day-to-day tasks and departmental projects. Assist with basic carpentry, construction, and renovation projects. Support administrative duties such as filing, data entry, scheduling, and document preparation. Participate in meetings, training sessions, and team discussions. Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. Maintain accurate records and organize work materials. Complete assigned tasks within established deadlines. Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Help prepare and maintain job sites by organizing tools, materials, and equipment. Measure, cut, and assemble building materials under supervision. Load, unload, and transport materials and supplies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other duties related to the internship area of interest. KEY REQUIREMENTS Must be between 18–30 years of age Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required Interest in gaining practical work experience in the carpentry field. Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn Basic computer and technology skills.
