Job summary
Employment Opportunity The Eskasoni School Board is seeking to hire a teacher for the upcoming school year. Position: Elementary Teacher Reporting to: Principal Location: Eskasoni Elementary & Middle School Employment term: September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027 Requirements: Valid NS teacher certification Elementary teaching experience an asset Knowledge and experience with technology applications to enhance instruction and learning (ie: google classroom, etc) Proficiency in Google Workspace, email and basic computer skills Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, traditions and language an asset Knowledge and experience implementing inclusive teaching strategies for students with academic and behavioral needs Ability to work closely with TA’s to oversee and ensure appropriate educational programming Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong classroom and student management and ability to create structured and engaging learning environments Salary: According to Eskasoni Teacher Salary Scale Closing date: August 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM In accordance with the Eskasoni Teachers’ Union Local 80510 Collective Agreement bargaining unit members will be given preference. Preference will be given to Indigenous people in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment preferences Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
