TELECOM FIELD SPECIALIST Field Excellence - Collecting Essential Infrastructure Data! Why this Role Ready to work outdoors collecting essential infrastructure data? Join Encepta’s field team and help build the networks that connect communities across Canada. This is a temporary Field Specialist I position supporting a Kamloops-based project (estimated mid-July to early September, ~8 weeks). The team departs from Kamloops to the project area daily. You’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of data collection and fieldwork, and you’ll build confidence completing tasks independently with guidance from a team lead. What You’ll Be Responsible For Reporting to the Manager, Operations, you will support field projects through accurate, consistent data collection and documentation. Responsibilities include: Walk-outs to neighborhoods or rural areas using mobile devices and/or survey tools to collect GPS and asset information for telephone poles and/or civil structures, utilities, and related infrastructure Following a consistent, step-by-step mobile app process to capture required attributes and notes (process discipline is essential) Working alongside a team lead and managers to progress assigned work and meet daily targets Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting outside and/or inside plant infrastructure data Communicating with team members working in adjacent neighborhoods to avoid gaps or duplication Supporting research, testing, and process improvement initiatives as needed Working safely outdoors in all weather conditions and stopping work when conditions are unsafe What Success Looks Like During the project you’ll be: Consistently completing repetitive field capture tasks for 8–10 hours/day while maintaining focus and quality Producing accurate GPS points and complete, client-ready field records with clear notes on outliers and exceptions Troubleshooting basic app/device issues independently and escalating when needed Following safety procedures, demonstrating sound judgment, and maintaining a risk-averse approach in the field Collaborating with the team lead and communicating progress and blockers clearly What We're Looking For We’re seeking dependable, motivated Field Specialists who are comfortable working outdoors and can follow a consistent data-collection process. Technical Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience (telecommunications fieldwork preferred) and/or a recent university/college/technical program graduate (or equivalent combination of training and experience) Technical Skills: Comfortable using mobile devices and GPS/survey tools to capture accurate data; able to work efficiently on computers, tablets, and smartphones (Android/iOS); familiarity with Google Workspace (or equivalent) Process Discipline & Quality: Able to learn and follow a step-by-step mobile app workflow consistently, document outlier scenarios clearly, and troubleshoot basic app/device issues Safety & Reliability: Safety-first and risk-aware; able to work outdoors in varying conditions and demonstrate good judgment (including stopping work when conditions are unsafe) Communication & Teamwork: Communicates clearly with a team lead and adjacent field teams to coordinate coverage and avoid gaps/duplication Availability: Available for the full project timeline (mid-July to early September, estimated) Nice to Have Experience using mobile data collection apps (e.g., Fulcrum, Field Maps) and/or basic GIS familiarity Background in telecom, forestry, surveying, or utilities Comfort working in rural areas; first aid / wilderness / wildlife safety training What's In It for YOU?
