The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Chip plant clean up. This job is full-time temporary. Education and Experience: While formal education isn’t always required, having a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial. Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chip plant and operating equipment for the plant Skills and Abilities: Mechanical aptitude Physically fit First Aid Certified is an asset Work in dusty environments Ability to operate equipment and tools such as Bob Cat Skid Steer, Ditch Witch, Hand Tools, Come-Along, Line Winch, Air Wands, and Chain Saws Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment. Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver’s license is highly preferred. Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to be put through the course will be given priority in hiring process. Additional Requirements: Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, and overtime as needed. Completion of pre-employment screening processes, reference check, prior work verification. Ability to make it to and from work on a daily basis Responsibilities: Conduct pre-job equipment inspection Do all aspects of job safely. Use chainsaw Assist other workers in area Clean all areas of the Chip Plant Perform Fire Watch as required during and following Hot Work All other duties requested by management. Candidates must have a positive work ethic and the ability to work and communicate successfully in a team environment, with minimal supervision. Adaptability to various work assignments and changing conditions is essential. Must be able to recognize issues with equipment and follow through with reporting and ensuring repairs have been completed. What you’ll do
Perform comprehensive cleanup of the chip plant and conduct pre-job equipment inspections. Execute safety-critical tasks including fire watch during hot work and the use of chainsaws.
Requirements
Requires at least one year of experience in a chip plant and the ability to operate heavy equipment like Bob Cats and Ditch Witches. A valid driver's license and First Aid certification are highly preferred.
