This position plays a vital role in supporting not‑for‑profit organizations that help deliver recreational and cultural services across the County. The successful candidate will build strong relationships, provide guidance to community groups, and support Council processes and grant programs. The Community Group Support Coordinator serves as the primary contact for not-for-profit and volunteer community groups that operate within the County of Grande Prairie. The focus is on community groups that provide services for activities that fall within the County’s Recreation and Culture policies, endeavors, and grant programs. This role will work closely with the Supervisor, Recreation and Culture who oversees the County’s Recreation and Culture grant program, and with the Director of Recreation and Culture. The Coordinator provides administrative support, facilitates governance and grant related assistance and helps build capacity within community organizations. The role also liaises with internal departments such as the Health, Safety and Risk Management advisors and the Facilities department to ensure safe and sustainable operations in community facilities. The position will also support programs and events offered by the Recreation and Culture department as needed. Qualifications Post-secondary education in recreation, social sciences, human services or a related field preferred Previous experience working with not-for-profit groups and / or volunteer work on a community board or organization Understanding of Alberta Society’s Act, local First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous communities and Historical Resources Act Some previous experience with public engagement facilitation or consultation process is an asset Previous experience with contract management, office administration or equivalent Additional Information Term Length: This is a 12-month contract opportunity with an immediate start. Work Schedule: This position works 35 hours a week. 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Working occasionally on weekends may be required, with prior notice. Hourly Pay: $39.40 to $46.35 per hour.
