Summary of Position Reporting to the foreman and designates, operators are an integral member of field operations, responsible for providing support on all our projects. Role and Responsibilities Excavate and slope ditches to grade Working with the ground crew to excavate near existing utilities Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment, including pre & post trip inspections Responsible for placement of water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipe in the excavation. Follow directions of ground crew regarding craning, material placement and grading. Follow company policies & procedures regarding SWP’s, inspections, and incidents etc. Other tasks as assigned Qualifications, Training and Education CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015 & Ground Disturbance level 2 Candidates must have a minimum 3 years of directly related experience in the water & sewer industry working on road rehab, curb and gutter, asphalt breaking and commercial projects. Able to lift 50 lbs. unaided Excellent motivational & troubleshooting abilities Ability to work under high stress situations effectively and in a fast-paced environment under pressure to meet deadlines. Comfortable operating on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of surroundings while working with flaggers & traffic control employees Working Conditions Workers are expected to do occasionally physically demanding work in different positions (kneeling, standing, etc.). The successful applicants will be working outdoors in dusty and underground environments, including sewers, through all weather conditions. They will be expected to sit for long periods of time while operating.
