Job PostingPosition: Elementary School TeacherBasic Responsibilities:Seeking an elementary teacher for a highly unique school in a rural setting in the South Okanagan. Senpaq'cin is a First Nations Authorized Primary Years Program (IB PYP) with the International Baccalaureate World School. The role of the IB-PYP teacher is to build and maintain a successful inquiry program centered around our local First Nations culture and protocols.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Designing, preparing, implementing, reflecting, evaluating, and reporting learning experiences that align with BC curriculum and the IB PYP curriculum framework.Creating differentiated learning experiences to meet the learning needs of the students within the classroom environment.Providing opportunity for student-initiated action from deep exploration of inquiry lessons.Collaborating with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge.Communicating accurately, regularly and meaningfully with families of students.Contributing to the extracurricular programs offered within the school environment.Collaborating with the Okanagan Language Team to integrate First Nations language and culture into the program of inquiry and daily instructional practice where applicable.Willingness to understand implement trauma informed strategies to support the emotional health of the student population.Minimum Qualifications Required:BC Teacher Regulation Branch CertificatePYP training or experience is an assetExperience working within a First Nation school or organizationWillingness to learn the Okanagan Language alongside the studentsValid Driver's LicenseOther Related Employment Information: Candiate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with others, is a solution-based problem solver and has strong organizational skills.Start Date: August 24, 2026Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30 pmTerm of Employment: 10 month contract with the option to extend from year to year Term of Employment Short Term employment from June 22 toPay Rate: Based on SD 53 teacher wage scaleDeadline for ApplicationsOpen until filled Contact Person:Principal - Julie Shaw 250-498-2019HR Manager - Leona Baptiste 250-498-3444
