Job summary
Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a well established heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling & blasting, pipe & underground utility placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. We are looking to hire individuals who are experienced running various pieces of heavy equipment on the paving crew. Requirements: Experience operating a roller, skid steer or backhoe on a paving crew Valid NS Drivers License required. Experience in grading and asphalt paving. Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance. Keen attention to detail. Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset. Duties and Responsibilities: Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order. Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance. Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor. Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required. Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators. Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up. Other duties as required We offer: Starting rate depending on experience. Medical & Dental coverage. RRSP matching.
