Senior Hardware Design Engineer – Embedded Electronics Location: Quebec, Canada Full time - Permanent About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced embedded electronic products. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in electronic circuit design, PCB development, hardware architecture, and cross-functional product development. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle—from concept and design through validation, manufacturing, and production support—while collaborating closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of complex embedded electronic hardware systems. Develop electronic schematics and support multi-layer PCB design and layout activities. Define hardware architecture, component selection, and design strategies for new products. Perform board bring-up, hardware integration, debugging, and validation testing. Investigate and resolve complex hardware issues using structured root cause analysis. Develop and execute hardware verification and reliability test plans. Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout product development. Support prototype builds, engineering validation, design verification, and production release. Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure successful product industrialization. Support regulatory compliance, certification, and product qualification activities. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance during design reviews. Evaluate new technologies and recommend innovative hardware solutions to improve product performance and reliability. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience designing electronic hardware for embedded systems. Strong expertise in electronic circuit design, analog and digital electronics, and PCB development. Hands-on experience with schematic capture, PCB layout review, board bring-up, and hardware debugging. Experience with embedded hardware platforms and hardware/software integration. Strong knowledge of power management, signal integrity, and component selection. Experience supporting products from concept through manufacturing and production. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hardware issues and perform root cause analysis. Excellent communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with high-speed digital designs and mixed-signal circuits. Knowledge of EMC/EMI, product safety, and regulatory compliance requirements. Experience supporting manufacturing transfer and supplier collaboration. Familiarity with hardware validation, reliability testing, and product certification. Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects. Exposure to medical devices, assistive technology, consumer electronics, or other embedded hardware products is a plus.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with over 10 years of experience in embedded hardware design. Must possess strong expertise in PCB development, schematic capture, and hardware/software integration.
