The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) is an international not-for-profit organization that provides global leadership to save an improve lives for people with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. Established in 1963, the WFH works with member organizations in 147 countries as well as through a network of international volunteers and healthcare providers to improve and sustain care and "Treatment for All" around the world.

The WFH is looking for an experienced, versatile, highly-adaptable and results-oriented external consultant - I year contract - extension possible –  with on-trend knowledge, experience, as well as excellent project management skills to temporarily lead & execute a variety of key communications projects planned across the WFH organization for 2021.

Type of position:             Consultant (1 year contract ; extension possible)

Reporting to:                     Director, Communications & Marketing



The Consultant, Communications projects - contractual 1 year, is a member of Communications & Marketing department and reporting jointly to the Humanitarian Aid Director on HA communications projects (50 % of assigned time).

For communications support to the WFH Gene Therapy project and to various Global Development projects (each 25% of assigned time), the consultant will report jointly to the department directors, and the Director of Communications & Marketing.



Humanitarian Aid (HA) communications projects

  • With the Director, Humanitarian Aid and the Director,  Marketing & Communications, create a comprehensive communications plan for the WFH Humanitarian Aid program
  • Manage the relationships with all HA program donors
  • Create personalized communications plans for key donors
  • Develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations at donor meetings to review communications plans and activities for each donor
  • Develop and manage a budget for all communications work related to the HA program
  • Manage the webpage for the program including any updates and translations; coordinate all structural updates to the Humanitarian Aid webpage
  • Create a social media plan, with the Marketing & Communications team, for relevant activities and events to promote and highlight key HA achievements
  • Along with the Director of Communications and other team members, manage the design and development of key programmatic publications and collaterals (ex., Humanitarian Aid  Impact Report, program brief, etc.)
  • Track all communications analytics for the program, in collaboration with IT
  • Travel (post current Covid-19 restrictions) with Humanitarian Aid Director, donors, and production crew on location (international) to shoot promotional videos and collect related photography
  • Manage all aspects of planning international video shoots: travel, communications brief, production crew brief, etc. to ensure all details are managed and coordinated
  • Support the Humanitarian Aid department team with all other communications activities

Gene Therapy communications projects

  • With the Director of Research & Education and the Director of Marketing & Communications, create a comprehensive communications plan for the Gene Therapy program;
  • Work with the Communications team to implement a comprehensive plan

Global Development communications projects

  • With the Director of Global Development and the Director of Marketing & Communications, create a comprehensive communications plan for the Global Developmentdepartment;
  • Work with the Communications team to implement a comprehensive plan this plan
  • Develop, design, and implement online communications plans & strategies aimed at promoting the WFH and its activities, programs and events
  • Manage all content related to website (write, edit, update) and coordinate with all departments ensuring quality control and process management

General / ah hoc communications projects

  • Collaborate with other members of the Communications & Marketing team in the development and production of print and electronic public relations materials suitable to target audiences
  • Assist with the World Hemophilia Day annual campaign (help develop theme in collaboration with departments & sectors; lead social media strategy and planning, coordinate and manage web content and activities, manage international 'light it up red' campaign, etc.)
  • Manage freelancers, graphic designers, translators, printers, etc.



  • University degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Minimum 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience managing and developing publications and collateral, conference and event materials, preferably in a healthcare, non-profit, and/or international development context
  • Minimum three years (3) of experience in organizing & implementing communications strategies and public relations projects; basic knowledge of branding and marketing best


practices, techniques, processes – an asset

  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively toward deadlines; effective under stress
  • Highly motivated, resourceful: adept at taking initiative and following through; able to solve problems effectively and excel in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Superior interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain solid relationships in an international & multi-cultural environment
  • Superior writing and editing skills; detail-oriented: excellent written & oral communication skills in English (essential to daily WFH international work);
  • Production experience, primarily in digital, print, video
  • Superior PowerPoint development skills (presentations with graphics and video); video editing  experience
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, as well as basic graphic design skills – key assets
  • Comfort with basic statistics & the application of analytics to strategic development ; strong budget management abilities
  • Working knowledge of French, fluency in other international language/s (#@JW_STRONG_BEGIN@preferred) – assets
  • Legally entitled to live & work in Quebec, Canada; availability and willingness to undertake international travel (post covid-19)

Contract compensation will be commensurate with background and experience.
