The Ontario Financing Authority (OFA) has an exciting opportunity for a talented Systems Integrator to support data centre operations and infrastructure management within the OFA, borrowing and debt management agency for the Province of Ontario.

The role will provide the successful candidate with hands-on experience over a diverse IT service catalog that will also grow skills with a strong focus on IT project delivery within the Strategic Corporate Services Division.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Your role as a Systems Integrator will be to:

  • Plan, lead, coordinate and evaluate highly specialized projects to cover any aspect of systems administration including: performing critical evaluations and developing recommendations, managing technical change, installation, configuration, maintenance and tuning, and troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
  • Provide senior expertise in the research, evaluation, cost/benefit and options analysis, specifications and acquisition of software, hardware, and IT technology.
  • Design and implement infrastructure and solutions for server upgrades, consolidation and virtualization, email, mobility, secure remote access and other internet working requirements.
  • Update or create new documentation including design, architecture, build and test documentation.
  • Analyze technical issues, and resolve problems with senior technology staff and vendor specialists.
  • Monitor all I&IT systems in order to identify or recognize production problems both proactively and reactively.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and usage communication for audiences of varying technical knowledge regarding technology solutions and infrastructure design.
  • Provide senior-level hands-on planning, design, implementation, support and specialized technical expertise across a broad range of on-premise and cloud technologies.
  • Provide authoritative advice to all stakeholders throughout the full life cycle of multiple systems platforms.
  • Provide systems integration through principles, practices, tools and techniques to oversee and ensure the full integration of multiple components in multiple design platforms.
  • Provide expertise on current and emerging IIT trends, operational methods and technologies including hardware platforms, software, networks, databases, applications, common business systems, technology infrastructure and operational services, testing, and implementation methodology to determine and select options for complex platform solutions development for complex integrated environments.
  • Support risk management principles and best practices to anticipate and understand the potential for risk in system failure/critical incidents; to develop risk management strategies and protocols; to mitigate and minimize risk; and to lead resolution of critical incidents when they occur.
  • Inform OPS/Cluster/Ministry/Agency IIT strategies, plans, operational and service delivery policies, directives, best practices and standards to manage the evaluation of client requirements, negotiate customer service-level agreements, and ensure compliance in the development, operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Lead Agency program priorities, business operations, OPS IIT solutions, standards, processes and strategies, disaster recovery planning and contingency testing, and technology trends to direct the resolution of analysis and design challenges, define project scope, ensure project compliance and system integration, and ensure that critical business objectives are met.
  • Deliver service delivery management, resource management and operational planning for multiple complex systems platforms in order to manage and optimize the full platform life cycle.
  • Possess knowledge of project methodology and project management skills to provide project planning and leadership on concurrent organization initiatives.
  • Support administrative and contract/SLA development and management policies including OPS procurement policies and procedures in order to manage vendor/service providers selection and service-level agreements, and to ensure ability to deliver and contract compliance.
  • Possess good oral and written communications to lead complex client, vendor and stakeholder consultations; provide authoritative and persuasive technical advice; maintain effective internal and multijurisdictional client relationships; and prepare and present complex technical information and recommendations to technical and non- technical audiences including senior management, clients and other stakeholders.

By providing proven technical expertise:

  • expert hands-on practical experience building, deploying, managing and supporting a large highly available enterprise server and infrastructure across multiple geographical sites
  • ability to forecast demand on infrastructure services and performance, develop and implement infrastructure design to optimize performance, and review and recommend infrastructure upgrades and changes
  • ability to acquire and apply knowledge of corporate I&IT information management mandates, infrastructure policies and procedures
  • understanding of multi-platform, multi-operating system, multi-site interconnection and integration issues, network technologies, security issues, data recovery, communication protocols, desktop technologies and associated operating systems
  • experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems, automation tools, build/deployment procedures and emerging technologies
  • proven understanding of leading-edge technologies, technology developments (trends and new products) and design criteria
  • knowledge of computer concepts, systems administration tools and techniques, scripting, automation, and internet technologies
  • knowledge of current cyber security trends, devices (e.g., firewalls, network access control, endpoint detection, IPS), security hardening of network devices and configurations deployed within a data centre environment
  • knowledge of IP networking concepts, TCP/IP addressing concepts/design, DNS, HTTP(S), TLS, SSL, FTP, DNS, DHCP and other protocols
  • knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and change management methodologies is an asset
  • demonstrated experience developing technical documentation
  • ability to train and communicate technical concepts and ideas to non-technical staff
  • working knowledge and experience in inter-networking design and implementation of server and desktop environments using Microsoft Exchange, SQL, IIS, Enterprise Backup solutions, Remote access/VPN technologies, Anti-virus and anti-spam solutions, Enterprise Network Management tools.
  • strong working experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) or Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies
  • experience with mobile device technologies and mobile device management platforms
  • knowledge of server and desktop virtualization technologies, clustering, partitioning and experience providing system administration backup and recovery technologies and procedure
  • experience providing authoritative expert technical leadership to the design, maintenance and deployment of major complex enterprise system platforms including setting technical direction, developing technology plans, technical standards, and providing technical oversight throughout the design and development stages
  • knowledge of systems/platform architecture, design, development, deployment and integration principles and technology to lead and oversee the design and development of complex highly integrated systems platforms including Windows client and server Operating systems, Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Exchange, Team Foundation Server, and others in-depth knowledge of and extensive experience with several of the following technologies: VMWare virtualization, Active Directory, Clustering, Group Policy, Certificate Services, Citrix, VPN and secure remote access, web-based, off-the-shelf applications
  • knowledge of integrated networking and security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IPS, network access control, endpoint protection), storage technologies, hi-availability technologies, cloud technologies, and technology developments (trends and new products)
  • knowledge of systems integration principles, tools and techniques in order to oversee and support the full integration of multiple platform components across several data centers and external providers
  • knowledge of current and emerging I&IT trends, security and contingency principles, operational methods and technologies (i.e., hardware platforms, software, networks, databases, applications common business systems, technology infrastructure and operational services, testing and implementation methodology)

Salary Range: $1,704.17 - $2,128.95 Per Week
