Due to our continued success, we are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team on a 13 month contract in Calgary, AB.

  • Plan, organize, and control all Human Resources functions for Western Canada.

  • Provide business partners and employees with timely, sensitive and pragmatic advice which contributes to organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and the resolution of workplace issues.

  • Works closely with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team on recruitment efforts for all recruitment needs (including, conducting interviews, and extends job offers).

  • Works closely with Senior leadership on processing terminations (in compliance with legislation).

  • Coach and support managers with the annual Performance Management cycle (e.g. objective setting, performance feedback, development planning and use of the Samuel's Connect System).

  • Support Samuel's compensation team for all compensation processes for employees (e.g. job evaluations, annual pay reviews, annual incentive plan, etc)

  • Implement and communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.

  • Ensure the legal compliance of all Human Resources processes and activities and assume a lead role on change initiatives and best practice applications.

  • Assist Talent Development team and Management to review training programs and plans for future successions.

  • Assist Human Resources administrators and payroll in the preparation of system entries, payroll, deductions, transfers, etc.

  • Responsible for reporting metrics and information for various reporting requirements, to include month-end, safety, and various Human Resources metrics.

  • Handle day-to-day employee questions and concerns, and act as a liaison for committees, corporate and Human Resources team.


  • A well-rounded Human Resources professional with 5 years' generalist experience.
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program in a Human Resources related field. Preference to individuals who have completed their Human Resources professional designation.
  • Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships, both within and external to the organization
  • Have a solid grasp of legislation and regulations that have a bearing on employment matters.
  • Experience in Service Centre or Manufacturing is considered an asset.
  • Travel required throughout Western Canada
  • Proficient with payroll and other Human Resources based programs (Taleo, Oracle Cloud) network
