Description of position: The Human Resource Co-Op student/Intern will play a critical role in supporting various HR functions and initiatives within our organization. This exciting position will contribute to the overall success by assisting in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration and other HR-related activities. The position is a 4-8 month co-op/contract based in Kelowna, B.C. Key Responsibilities: Recruitment Support: Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks. New Hire Onboarding: Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including preparing offer letters, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring completion of required paperwork. Employee Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System), including personal information, employment history, and training records. Benefits Administration: Support benefits enrollment and administration processes, including answering employee inquiries, assisting with open enrollment, and processing changes in benefits status. Employee Relations Support: Provide administrative support for employee relations matters, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution. Training and Development Coordination: Coordinate training sessions and professional development programs, including scheduling, logistics, and materials preparation. HR Policy and Procedure Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and support audits and investigations as needed. Health and Safety Compliance: Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by supporting compliance with WorkSafe regulations, safety training, and incident reporting. General Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including filing, copying, scanning, mail distribution, and other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Enrolled in a Post-Secondary Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field program. Fundamental understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS software. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. 1-2 years of experience in HR administration or related role, preferably in the construction or real estate industry would be a valuable asset.
