Position Overview The Staff Development Instructor contributes to the delivery of a high-standard of care provided by Home Care Direct Service Staff. Under the supervision of the Team Manager, Program Support Team, participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of Orientation and ongoing Staff Development programs for Direct Service Staff. Under the supervision of the Staff Development Coordinator, participates in the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of supplementary training staff/volunteers. Experience Recent relevant experience in the provision of care and/or experience educating and evaluating skills of individuals in the healthcare field. Minimum of two years recent Occupational Therapy experience in a community or health care setting, with at least one year in the area of assessment, instruction and/or application of ergonomic principles preferred. Experience in adult education preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Entry-to-practice academic credential in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated as determined by the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM); or, Entry-to-practice academic credential in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated. Specific discipline required will be based on the operational needs of the multi-disciplinary team. Post-secondary education in Adult Education will be an asset. Certification/Licensure/Registration Registration is required with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbent’s name entered in the practicing register. Member in good standing of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists in an asset; or, Must be registered on the Practicing Roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba. Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred. Valid Manitoba driver‘s license and access to a vehicle required. Qualifications and Skills Proficiency with computers is required. Knowledge of InterRAI, EHCR, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is an asset. Physical Requirements Not Applicable This indefinite term may expire upon the return of the current incumbent to their position, subject to a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours’ notice. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, Prairie Crocus Manor, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services. Requirements
Candidates must hold an entry-to-practice academic credential in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy and be registered with the relevant Manitoba regulatory college. A minimum of two years of recent relevant experience in a community or healthcare setting is required, along with a valid driver's license.
