Reporting to the LPN Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. The LPN works cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met. In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality. This position will: Model the organization's mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values Qualifications: Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program required Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required Ability to speak French an asset Dementia education an asset Strong critical assessment skills Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy PLEASE NOTE: Covenant Care offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package All employees new to Covenant Care must provide a criminal record check not older than 3 months ahead of your commencement date. Requirements
Candidates must be a graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program and hold current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Additionally, current CPR/First Aid certification and the ability to work in a continuing care setting are required.
