Sinai Health is looking for a Clinical Program Assistant, Palliative Care to support our Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Each Clinical Program Assistant (CPA) on our team is assigned a set of primary responsibilities but is expected to prove full coverage for other CPA responsibility areas as required. About this team: The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care offers medical care and support to patients and their caregivers in their own home. We care for patients of all ages with serious, life-limiting illness who cannot easily travel to appointments or who have no clinic-based palliative care available to them. We also provide care in the hospital through our In-Hospital Care Program. In this role you will: Manage palliative care referrals Initiate patient referrals to out-patient clinics or other palliative care programs Respond to patient information requests by the Latner Centre physicians Provide front reception duties including greeting visitors, answering and responding to telephone requests or forwarding calls as appropriate Manage incoming and outgoing patient information, including scanning and uploading into electronic medical records Book patient procedures at the request of physicians Provide administrative support to the physicians, as required, including the review, formatting and uploading dictated notes Prepare and submit patient insurance letters/documentation, at the physicians’ request Monitor and submit billings to OHIP on behalf of Temmy Latner Centre physicians Keep records of, and send out death notices to appropriate health professionals Receive and report shadow billing and after-fours billings Provide Finance Coordinator with reconciled report for payment to physicians monthly Prepare the quarterly call schedule for the home-based and hospital-based programs, in collaboration with the Home-Care Lead Physician Reconcile billings against Remittance Advice and report any discrepancies Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements: Mandatory Successful completion of a Medical Secretary or Medical Office Assistant Diploma from an accredited educational institution 2 years of recent medical secretarial experience working in a clinic/health care environment Previous experience maintaining electronic health records Previous experience preparing and submitting physician billings Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered Skills and Knowledge Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills Demonstrated quality patient service Strong understanding of medical billing practices Advanced technical skills and proficiency using electronic medical records and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Demonstrated effectiveness to work under pressure and routinely meet deadlines Self-directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgment Confident organizational and time management skills with flexibility to adjust to priorities Demonstrated professionalism; ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner both independently and as part of a team Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your clinical administration career within palliative care, apply now and let us know why you’d be a great addition to our team.
